The Scrap Box is a beloved fish and chip shop located in a village community in the UK, known for hearty portions, homemade quality, and their local twist—scraps. Inspired by regional food culture and customer nostalgia, the brand celebrates tradition with a modern edge. The name itself comes from a quirky in-shop idea around serving “scraps” (crispy batter bits) in a DIY popcorn-style box. The team behind the Scrap Box wanted to bring warmth and personality to their second dine-in location while standing out from competitors and solidifying a more memorable visual identity.
Their previous branding felt too corporate and lacked the flexibility to translate across different platforms and environments—especially with the graffiti art they had recently introduced to the store exterior. The existing logo didn’t carry the heart or visual uniqueness they needed to match their playful name and memorable in-store experience. To solve this, I crafted a refreshed brand identity that honoured their traditional roots but elevated their storytelling. I designed a logo system that blended modern typographic structure with personality-driven illustration—a visual nod to their famed “scraps,” boxing theme, and local fish heritage. The new branding flexes easily across packaging, signage, and digital touchpoints, staying consistent without feeling rigid—fitting their desire for flexibility, warmth, and local pride.
